Classic Heritage Reconstructed
Heritage Reborn began when the clients found their "perfect house"—a 6,000 sq. ft. rooming house built in 1880. Once home to many a London Knight, this historical beauty was meticulously restored from a triplex back into a grand single-family residence, while maintaining two luxury upper apartments.
The restoration balanced modern engineering with heritage preservation. Highlights include a complete porch reconstruction guided by 1900s photography and an ensuite transformation that revealed a hidden architectural arch behind the walls. By custom-matching century-old millwork and protecting original features like the second-floor fireplace, the project honors the home’s storied past while securing its future.
The existing ensuite was small and required stepping up into the space, which limited both accessibility and functionality. By removing a closet and reworking the layout, we were able to significantly expand the footprint and create a more open, comfortable flow.
During demolition, a hidden architectural feature was uncovered — a curved arch concealed behind the walls. Rather than covering it back up, the design embraced this unexpected discovery and incorporated it into the final layout, allowing the home’s history to inform the renovation.
To further preserve the historic character, our millwork team custom-matched the baseboards to the century-old curved corners, maintaining the architectural integrity of the space.
This transformation was made possible through the dedication and craftsmanship of many talented team members and trade partners. Special credit goes to designer Leah Turner for helping shape the final vision.

The front porch reconstruction began with our site crew handling demolition and framing, laying the groundwork for a thoughtful restoration. Our cabinet shop then completed the project with carefully crafted heritage details, including a beautiful new front door fitted with the home’s original glass.
Historic photographs from the early 1900s, along with our 3D renderings, guided the design process. The goal was to recreate the look and feel the home once had — honouring its past while restoring it for the future.
“We highly recommend Clay Construction for heritage renovation work. They have completed many projects for us, and their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and respect for historical integrity have consistently exceeded our expectations. Their team is knowledgeable, professional, and committed to delivering high quality results. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others seeking expert heritage restoration services.”
