1890's Farmhouse
What began as a simple ceiling replacement in this 1890’s farmhouse quickly evolved into a complete kitchen renovation. As we opened up the space, it became clear that the existing layout was limiting both function and flow. Together with the homeowners, we took the opportunity to reimagine the kitchen from the ground up.
The original design felt closed in and inefficient, with dated finishes and limited workspace. By reconfiguring the layout, we created a more intuitive, functional environment that better supports everyday living and entertaining.
A custom peninsula featuring a circular walnut top adds both warmth and character, while creating a natural gathering point and additional prep space. The softened edge helps ease the transition into the kitchen and brings a subtle nod to the home’s craftsmanship.
Cabinetry was extended to the ceiling to enhance vertical space and achieve a clean, cohesive look. Thoughtful lighting -combining recessed fixtures, under-cabinet lighting, and a statement pendant - brightens the entire room and improves functionality throughout.
Material selections were kept simple and timeless, blending modern finishes with warm wood accents to maintain the home’s character while bringing it forward.
The end result is a bright, highly functional kitchen that honors the home’s history while meeting the needs of today’s homeowners.
